Privacy Policy

Sandboxed (“we”, “our”, or “the Service”) helps you analyze suspicious links before you visit them. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and what choices you have.
1. Information we collect
When you use the extension or landing page, we may collect:
- The single URL you explicitly choose to analyze.
- Basic metadata needed for the analysis, such as the final URL, redirect chain, screenshot, and risk signals returned by the backend.
- Local extension settings you save in Chrome sync storage (for example, your configured backend URL and check mode).
2. How we use the data
We use the submitted URL and related analysis metadata only to:
- Open the page in a disposable browser session.
- Follow redirects and generate a risk verdict.
- Show you a screenshot and the findings in the extension UI.
We do not use the data for advertising, analytics, or profiling.
3. What we do not do
- We do not collect your browsing history.
- We do not read or transmit unrelated page content beyond the single URL you choose to analyze.
- We do not sell or share personal data for third-party advertising.
4. Backend and third-party processing
The URL you submit is processed by the backend you configure in the extension options. If you point the extension at a hosted backend, that service’s own privacy policy applies to that processing.
5. Data retention
We keep the minimum data needed to provide the analysis result. The extension stores only your local settings in Chrome sync storage. We do not maintain a user profile or advertising history.
6. Your choices
You can disable the extension, clear your saved settings, or point the extension to a backend you trust. You can also use the Service without creating an account.
